Staying in Vancouver during the 2026 World Cup
If you’re planning to visit Vancouver for the 2026 World Cup, it’s essential to book your accommodations early. It’s a small-ish city with an even smaller hotel inventory, which will be tricky when Vancouver sees a surge of up to 350,000 visitors for the tournament.
At this time, Vancouver only has 13,000 hotel rooms, so the math isn’t mathing. For the 2026 World Cup, city officials have been working on building new hotels and adding beds for footy fans. Short-term rentals like Airbnb and VRBO will be available, but those, too, are going to fill up fast.
Luckily, Vancouver has great public transportation, so you can look further out in spots like Richmond (which is close to the airport), Burnaby, and Coquitlam, all of which have easy access to Downtown via SkyTrain. To be in the heart of it all, you’ll want to look at City Center in Downtown. It is, of course, the most popular area for tourists, since it’s got most of the city’s main attractions, restaurants, and shopping. West End is more residential, but it’s got some cool spots like Davie Village and Robson Street. For trendy, you’ll head east to Gastown, Yaletown, and Chinatown, where coffee shops reign and breweries are abound. If you want it, we’ve got plenty more information on transport to and around Vancouver during the World Cup.
When booking a hotel for the World Cup in Vancouver, note that it is on the more expensive side, especially for Canadian cities. On a normal day, hotels can cover a wide range of travel budgets, but during the 2026 World Cup, expect to pay a premium for Downtown and stadium-adjacent spots.
Note: For each of our Vancouver 2026 World Cup hotel recommendations, we’ve included links to Trip.com (part of the same group as Skyscanner.com). If you find the same hotel cheaper anywhere else, Trip.com will refund you the difference, so you always know you’re getting the cheapest rate available.💰 Win-win.

For 2026 World Cup travelers on a budget, neighborhoods like Burnaby, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and Richmond are going to make more sense.

Luxury hotels in Vancouver for the World Cup
As far as 2026 World Cup host cities go, Vancouver is going to be on the higher end if you’re looking for luxury digs. Like San Francisco and New York, prices are high at $400 to $700+ CAD per night, but what will drive that cost up even more is the lack of luxe accommodations to begin with. As we’ve mentioned before, there’s a shortage of hotels in Vancouver (which the city is trying to rectify, quickly), but if you’re ready and willing to spend the money, Vancouver can offer simply astounding hotels with superior service and high-end comfort.
