There’s no way to sugar coat it – hotels in San Francisco are expensive. On average they’ll run you about $400 per night for a 4-star hotel. Airbnbs are expensive in SF, too, but VRBO can be slightly more affordable. Hostels can be an option for the more budget-conscious traveler, with private rooms as cheap as $50-70 a night.

The San Francisco Bay Area Stadium (Levi’s Stadium) is in Santa Clara with the major city of San Jose just next door, so looking at 2026 World Cup hotels in San Jose and Santa Clara will make more sense for convenience. Unfortunately for your wallet still expect average prices of anywhere from $200-$350 per night for a decent hotel.

Of course, staying in The City, as they call SF, is going to lead to a more typical San Francisco experience with the varied and diverse neighborhoods like The Castro, Nob Hill, and Fisherman’s Wharf. But you have to be willing to foot the bill.
