Staying in Atlanta during the 2026 World Cup
When booking your accommodation in Atlanta for the 2026 World Cup, it is important to consider your proximity and access to Atlanta Stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium). In Atlanta, it is possible to be walking distance from the venue or within reach of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), which stops at the stadium. Areas like Downtown Atlanta, Midtown, and Georgia State University are ideal for quick access.
The rest will be down to budget and what kind of vibes you are looking for. Midtown is lively with great restaurants and bars, Buckhead is more upscale and quiet, while East Atlanta Village offers a trendy, laid-back feel. Consider looking slightly further away, like Old Fourth Ward, a hip and up-and-coming neighborhood that is a short MARTA ride away from the stadium. West End is an emerging area with a lot of character and in close proximity to Atlanta Stadium. Trendy, artsy Edgewood might offer budget-friendly accommodations in addition to a fun vibe, and Grant Park is a quieter option if you prefer parks to people.
Atlanta is not nearly as expensive as other 2026 World Cup host cities like New York New Jersey or San Francisco, but itโs not as affordable as Kansas City, either. You can expect demand for hotels to be high, and prices likely to spike during the 2026 World Cup. Booking early is crucial to secure your spot and get better rates.
Note: For each of our Atlanta 2026 World Cup hotel recommendations, weโve included links to Trip.com (part of the same group as Skyscanner.com). If you find the same hotel cheaper anywhere else, Trip.com will refund you the difference, so you always know youโre getting the cheapest rate available.๐ฐ Win-win.
Home Turf Highlights: A localโs tips for staying in Atlanta for the World Cup
We spoke to football-loving locals to get their take on the the 2026 World Cup host cities they call home. Jason Hatfield had this advice for fans deciding where to stay in Atlanta for the 2026 World Cup:

Atlanta is a sprawling city with things to do an hour in every direction. If I was coming in for the World Cup, Iโd try to stay in town. Near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the options are plentiful and growing all the time. One that's currently under construction and scheduled to be open for the Cup in 2026 is Centennial Yards โ itโs a large entertainment district very close to the stadium featuring hotels, housing, restaurants, bars, etc. The goal is for it to transform the area around the stadium.
There are great existing spots near the stadium. Inclduing Castleberry Hill, a historic neighborhood nearby and Wild Heaven Brewery (a large brewery with a full bar close by). A short ride will take you to Atlantaโs BeltLine, a 22-mile urban trail that features a HUGE array of restaurants, hotels, bars, and shopping. Jump on the BeltLine at Inman Park and you can have hours of walking, eating, drinking, and soaking in Atlantaโs culture.
Lastly, for some international flair, Iโd encourage visitors to check out Buford Highway Corridor. Itโs about 20 minutes or so northeast of the city, and is considered Atlantaโs international district, with over 1,000 immigrant-owned businesses and an almost unending selection of restaurants covering Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, and Dominican cuisine.
